Shriners Hospital for Children - Boston

In its completed form, this world-class hospital appears a conventionally built structure, which belies the complex construction sequencing of its birth. Tasked with maintaining operations while providing a larger building, LeMessurier had nowhere to go but up. Transfer trusses stretched across the existing hospital creating a platform to erect the upper stories. Once complete, staff and patients were moved up and the existing building was demolished to make way for construction below.
